Adelaide Endodontic Specialists
Adelaide Endodontic Specialists is Adelaide’s longest established endodontic specialist practice. Established by internationally renowned Professor Geoffrey Heithersay in 1967, this standard of excellence has grown to include specialist Endodontists Dr Mark Wotzke (now retired from clinical practice), Dr Paul Heijkoop, Dr Daniel Farmer and Dr Jonathan Christo.
Paul, Dan and Jonathan are all endodontic specialists; dentists with a further 3 years post graduate training in root canal therapy. They will use their experience, latest techniques and state-of-the-art equipment to provide you with the best outcome for your teeth.
Our endodontists, Paul, Dan and Jonathan all share their expertise with the dental profession. They are all actively involved in ongoing education and training, including lecturing and tutoring undergraduate and postgraduate endodontic programmes at the University of Adelaide, and lecturing to the wider profession both locally and internationally.
Paul, Dan and Jonathan are all active members of the Australian Dental Association, Australian Society of Endodontology, Australian and New Zealand Academy of Endodontists, the American Association of Endodontists and the International Academy of Dental Traumatology.
Dr Paul Heijkoop
BDS, MDS (Endo), FRACDS, FPFA
Paul has been a Specialist Endodontist practicing in Adelaide since 1990. He has also been heavily involved in endodontic teaching at both the undergraduate and post-graduate level. He is a member of several endodontic societies, and has been the President of the Australian Society of Endodontology (SA Branch) and President of the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Endodontists. He has lectured on endodontic topics both locally and internationally and has been awarded a fellowship with the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Paul is currently still teaching undergraduate and post-graduate students at the University of Adelaide while maintaining Private Specialist Practice.
Dr Daniel Farmer
BDS, MDS (Endo), FRACDS, FADI, FICD
Dan graduated from the University of Adelaide with his Bachelor of Dental Surgery in 1993 and Masters of Dental Surgery (Endodontics) in 2001 and has been in specialist endodontic practice since this time. He gained fellowship to the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (by examination) in 2003 and has since been awarded fellowship to the International College of Dentists and the Academy of Dentistry International.
Dan has been a clinical lecturer and tutor in Endodontics at the Dental School, University of Adelaide, since 1996 at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level and currently holds the position of a Senior Visiting Consultant in Endodontics. He is a past state and federal president of the Australian Society of Endodontology. Dan has lectured both locally and nationally on his particular interest in Dental Trauma. In his spare time Dan enjoys playing tennis and golf when he is not playing taxi for his three daughters.
Dr Jonathan Christo
BDS, BScDent (hons), DClinDent. (Endo), FPFA
Jonathan obtained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery and concurrent Bachelor of Science in Dentistry with first class honours from the University of Adelaide in 2005. Jonathan practiced general dentistry in a private dental practice in Hobart, before returning to Adelaide to complete his Doctor of Clinical Dentistry in Endodontics in 2012.
Jonathan is a lecturer at the University of Adelaide and widely lectures to the dental profession. He is the past President of the Australian Society of Endodontology (SA Branch), and currently serves on the Federal committee. Jonathan is actively involved in the Australian Dental Association, is a reviewer for several dental journals and is a past examiner for the Australian Dental Council. Jonathan has also been awarded with a fellowship of the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
Away from dentistry, Jonathan enjoys an active lifestyle with his wife and 3 young children.
